Venice, Italy

June 20, 2014 By Stephanie K Leave a Comment

4/12/14 – 4/13/14

This is the true city of love! Venice is filled with romance at every corner. There are gondolas in every canal to take couples on a boat ride through the city. There are houses with their front doors right at the waters edge. It is a fascinating city to see water in-cooperated into people’s way of living. We got the chance to go to the top of the tower and look out over the city. It’s a pretty city, but my favorite city in Italy is Florence. I didn’t get a chance to go on a gondola because we didn’t have enough time. I ate gelato and bought a mascaraed mask. The shopping was the best part of Venice. I saved all my money in Italy to buy nice things in Venice. My family will get plenty of nice souvenirs.

Verona, Italy

4/12/14

This is the wonderful city of the tragic love story between Romeo and Juliet. We got to see Juliet’s balcony and Romeo’s house. It wasn’t that far from each other and the area was very nice. There are expensive stores and a nice market in the square. I enjoyed walking around the city with my friends. I even got to touch the golden breast on the Juliet statue in front of her house. The story is if you touch the golden breast with lust and desire then you will live forever with your one true love. I hope I live forever happy with my one true love but it won’t be the cause of my lustfully touching Juliet’s breast. A pretty city with a tragic love story.

Florence, Italy

4/11/14

We spent a lovely day in Florence just walking around and seeing all the sights. The weather was warm, the sun was shining, and the pizza was cooking in the restaurants. Florence is a really pretty city without millions of tourists crowding the cities.

Naples, Italy

4/10/14

In Naples we stayed for one hour so I spent my time walking around with my friends. It reminds me of Monaco when I look at the water but it feels like Italy. This city was nice and I hope to visit again. I need more time to spend looking around Naples.

Pompeii, Italy

4/10/14

The ruins from the Pompeii eruption is now being reconstructed to show people the city before the eruption. I expected to see more of a crumbled city but the whole city was reconstructed. I felt like a was walking through the city before the eruption occurred. It was different than what I expected to see.

Rome, Italy

4/7/14 – 4/9/14

The city of Rome is different in the movies then in person. I personally didn’t enjoy visiting this city. There was no natural beautiful in the city but instead large modern buildings between the ruins. It doesn’t feel or look like an old city with history. The Colosseum was nice but it didn’t feel magnificent. The city was also dirty and packed with tons of people. The second day of touring Rome was better then the first day in Rome. Gelato is also as delicious as everyone says!

Monaco

June 20, 2014 By Stephanie K Leave a Comment

4/6/14

The lovely, rich city of Monaco. It is 2 km squared and you can tell it is a small country. I saw many expensive boats lined up in the harbors. There was a fancy couple on their yacht drinking champagne and eating appetizers served by a white gloved waiter. I would like to be one of those people one day, but I don’t think it will ever happen. People living here are dripping with money. Every expensive store was lined up next to the Monte Carlo Casino. There were expensive cars sitting on the streets out front of the Monte Carlo Casino. It is a beautiful city to walk through. I couldn’t ever afford staying here for more then a few hours. It’s nice to see how the other half lives in the world.

Avignon, France

4/5/14

This city has a large aqueduct and has the most beautiful lavender fields during a certain season. We were visiting a month too early to see any lavender fields. The weather was nice and I enjoyed taking pictures with my friends. The newest food I tried in France today was snails. We ordered snails in marinara sauce and cheese. It just tasted like a meat or chicken. The only time I really tasted the snail was when we ran out of cheese to pair it with on the fork. The texture wasn’t the greatest but it wasn’t too bad! I love new experiences.

Barcelona, Spain

June 20, 2014 By Stephanie K Leave a Comment

4/3/14 – 4/4/14

The weather was warm, the sun was shining, and the men were being gentleman! It was a nice two days in Barcelona except when we lost Alyssa and Bree. Bree is from Wisconsin and Alyssa is from Colorado. They got lost when we were walking down winding streets between tall buildings. We eventually found them in a McDonald’s about 4 hours later. They went to McDonald’s to use the WiFi and contact our group on Facebook.  While they were at McDonald’s we went to the beach. The water was cold but the sun felt nice. We also visited the Park Guell. It was designed as a stylish park for the aristocrats of Barcelona. All the benches are tiled with colors and look out over the city. The Sagrada Familia was a tall church that is being constructed until 2016. It is detailed with many symbols for Jesus and life. I can’t believe there were so many details. Inside the church it is decorated to be like a forest. The stained glass windows were my favorite part of the church. We visited the Futbol Stadium of the national Barcelona team. The boys went crazy in our group taking a million pictures. The girls just sat in the stadium seats. At night we watched a Flamenco Dancing Show to end our Barcelona experience.

Cannes, France

Cannes is the home of the International Film Festival. The steps and building in the pictures is where the film festival is housed annually. These steps are where many international movie stars stood to take pictures.
